Annie Leobovitz was a photographer for Rolling Stone Magazine, Vanity Fair, and Vogue. She got her education at the San Francisco Art Institute where she was initially going to become a painter then found her love for photography. Within 2 years at Rolling Stone Magazine she was promoted to chief photographer. she held this position for the next 10 years. With her positions she was allowed to go in tour with The Rolling Stones in 1975. One of her most famous cover photos is of John Lennon and his wife, Yoko Ono, which was taken on December 8,1980, hours before Lennon's death. She then began working for Vanity Fair in 1983 where she photographed a array of people from presidents to teen heartthrobs. A great number of her cover photos were stunning and often very controversial, they were portraits of celebrities most often.She wanted to use an extremely personal, which was rarely seen. it brought out a inner aspect to her photography. Sometime in 2000 she started working with Vogue's creative director, Grace Coddington, to produce a storybook-like portfolio. Some best known themes are Alice in Wonderland and Wizard of Oz. These photographs starred models, actresses, and etc... as recognizable characters form numerous movies. Graydon Carter, the editor of Vanity Fair, has said, “I don’t care who you are or what levels of energy or patience you have... Annie will wear you out. She’ll beat you. Because she’ll have more patience than you do. And she will eventually get her shot.”
